Senior Software Engineer - Autonomous Ops & Maintenance (ATOM)

About the role

Datadog's Autonomous Ops & Maintenance (ATOM) team is building a platform that uses artificial intelligence and automation to help engineering groups safely run complex operations and software maintenance, minimizing repetitive toil while giving teams the visibility and trust needed for mission-critical environments. The company is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to help design and scale its foundational architecture, turning large technical datasets into structured knowledge and building AI-driven components that analyze operational workflows.

Key responsibilities

• Lead a greenfield initiative from inception to scale, shaping the foundational product architecture and working directly with users to refine early concepts
• Build mission-critical solutions that customers depend on daily
• Build fault-tolerant, horizontally scalable solutions running in multi-tenant environments
• Own features and components end to end, solving ambiguous technical problems and ensuring reliability, observability and operational quality

Required profile

• 6+ years of experience
• BS/MS/PhD in a scientific field or equivalent experience
• Experience with large-scale distributed systems
• Comfortable building and operating production services end to end
• Bonus: experience with Kubernetes, workflow orchestration systems or building AI agents

Required skills

• Proficiency in Go
• Demonstrated ability to use AI coding tools in day-to-day work and to validate, critique and refine AI-generated output
