Head of Cellular Portfolio Management

About the role

We are looking for a senior leader to head InterDigital’s Cellular Portfolio Management function. The role oversees a strategic segment of the company’s patent portfolio, aligning it with long‑term licensing and business objectives while working closely with engineering, legal and licensing teams.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, mentor and develop a team of Portfolio Managers, fostering a collaborative, high‑performance culture.
• Partner with the Head of Portfolio Management to ensure strategic alignment and long‑term value creation for the cellular patent segment.
• Oversee invention review and filing decisions; guide internal and external counsel on prosecution strategies, budgets and timelines.
• Drive portfolio development tactics such as continuation and divisional filings to strengthen asset coverage.
• Collaborate with engineers, legal counsel, Licensing Support and Post‑Grant teams to create and refine claim charts and support prosecution.
• Maintain deep expertise in the assigned portfolio, including assets, prosecution history and strategic positioning.
• Ensure portfolio activities support licensing programs, litigation strategies and broader corporate initiatives.
• Provide regular portfolio insights and updates to senior leadership.
• Support litigation efforts through due‑diligence and coordination on patent defense.
• Contribute to broader IP initiatives including standards‑body engagement, policy compliance, joint ventures, acquisitions and divestitures.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading IP or patent portfolio teams in a technology‑focused environment.
• Strategic mindset with the ability to align portfolio actions with long‑term business goals.
• Strong collaboration skills across engineering, legal, licensing and executive functions.
• Excellent communication skills for presenting insights to senior management.
• Experience supporting litigation and managing external counsel relationships.
