Handling Qualities Engineer – Stability & Control

About the role

Airbus Commercial Aircraft is seeking a Handling Qualities Engineer to join the Stability & Control department in Toulouse. The engineer will act as an integrator across aerodynamics, performance, loads, modelling and aircraft systems to ensure that handling qualities meet required standards throughout the aircraft life‑cycle.

Key responsibilities

• Size control surfaces and validate handling‑qualities and stability requirements.
• Define the flight envelope, including minimum speeds and angle‑of‑attack protection, in collaboration with cockpit systems and operational teams.
• Evaluate aircraft behaviour under system‑failure scenarios.
• Support feasibility studies for future programme developments.
• Prepare certification dossiers and maintain fleet airworthiness.
• Contribute to flight‑safety assessments and safety‑standard upgrades.
• Provide feedback and maintain expertise across interfaces such as Flight Physics, Lab Tests, Propulsion and Product Safety.

Required profile

• Degree in aerospace, mechanical or a related engineering discipline.
